Stille Waters plot
The village ferryman, Stan Moereels, shares a terrible secret with a man he considered his friend, Alexander Vorlat. Plagued by remorse, he is eager to vent to his stepdaughter Jana, but is unable to do so. Stan kills himself. Jana is determined to unlock the mystery surrounding his death. Alexander Vorlat, owner of the largest sawmill in the area, also has his problems: he struggles to keep his business going, leading to layoffs and security breaches. At his wits' end, he turns to his rich but perverted brother-in-law, Robert de Wezemaal, who is eager to help him.

Saw the series in its entirety and actually it didn't appeal to me that much. There are good passages, but I find the story itself too loaded, too horrible with even an event that defies any imagination.
Jumps quite from the heel on the branch and some characters I can't place very well and even come across as ridiculous.
The acting is not always that and Antje De Boeck, as the leading actress, often falls out of tune. Doesn't put enough expression in her role, which is very unfortunate.
On the other hand, I think that the ravages of time have not gnawed too much at the series. Also only 20 years old.
