Putain (2024-2025)

After 8 episodes I have to adjust my previously shared experience (after 4 episodes), and this in a positive way.

Apparently I had to get into it and the series managed to captivate me more and more. There is a rather gray atmosphere anyway and the cast, with quite a few young talents, also does more than well. And I hardly knew the bulk of the cast. The series simply breathes Brussels, with the wonderful combination of Dutch, Walloon French and the Brussels language. Perfect on a chilly winter evening/night. Furthermore, the sound, both during the episodes and the songs at the end, is certainly important and added value.

So for now a well-deserved 8/10 and my previous comment above no longer fits.

PS Apparently the Flemish Streamz and Dutch Videoland are working more and more closely together, as is evident from this series and also the Dutch series 'Safe Harbor'. That can only be positive.

It took me a few episodes to really get into it, but it's still an excellent series in my opinion. Liesa Van der Aa plays a wonderful mother, the gritty Brussels atmosphere is incredibly well-crafted, and the mix of comedic moments and social drama works. Certainly not flawless or everyone's cup of tea, but overall, Putain really blew me away. That Zwangere Guy is a truly talented guy.
