Mystery Road plot
Detective Jay Swan is assigned to investigate the mysterious disappearance of two young employees at a cattle ranch in the outback of Australia. One is a local aboriginal and football hero and the other is a white backpacker. Jay teams up with local police officer Emma James, and their investigation soon uncovers a drug trade in the city as well as a major past injustice that threatens the entire community.

The location and the atmosphere already earns 4 stars. Well put together story and a very appropriate cast. I am a fan of Scandinavian crime series and this Mystery Road easily matches them, although the environment and its inhabitants are completely different. But in terms of tension and plot certainly comparable. Adding some typical music makes it complete. Really recommended. On to season 2!

I thought the atmosphere was perfect and that is certainly the big plus of this series (season 1), which develops a certain tension but which also contains some clichés - I forgive you - but also lost time on unnecessary family side stories.
A police officer and a detective each investigate in their own way and can get to the true facts of the event. Not new, but here very special to extreme. There is rarely a laugh in the film, as if I had to smile every now and then with those two great minds in their professional drive.
