Doctor Deen is set on the Wadden Island of Vlieland. General practitioner Maria Deen, who, in addition to her work as a doctor, means much more to the inhabitants of the island. Life on the island is a unique world, completely different from life on the mainland. Maria Deen is the rock in the surf for the islanders. In addition to being an all-round doctor, she also acts as a social worker, psychologist and sometimes even a veterinarian and dentist for this small community.
