Interesting mini-series, set in the post-WWII Germany divided in 1974. West Germany was defeated by East Germany at the World Cup, but Beckenbauer and co. eventually managed to grab the world title. Watergate forced Nixon to resign. And meanwhile, there were plenty of citizens in the GDR who were interested in a flight to the West.
This series gives a realistic picture of the relationship between the socialism of the GDR and the capitalist consumption model of the FRG at the time, and offers an insight into some personal situations on both sides. That alone makes it interesting to watch, but the storylines are also just good, the acting is believable and the sometimes somewhat gray atmosphere is also fine.
Which is a bit of a shame: Sofia Helin, known from Source, actually only plays a leading role in the first two episodes, while she is always mentioned in the opening credits, and so on about in every article about the series. But otherwise only positive sounds here!
