Afterlife plot

We are introduced to the psychic Alison Mundy. As a child she already had contact with spirits and after a near death experience they even control her life. When a meeting with a young student turns into a drama, she meets the skeptical psychology teacher Robert Bridge. He becomes so intrigued by the haunted Alison that he decides to study her for his book. Meanwhile, Alison does everything in her power to make Robert accept the death of his son so that the boy's spirit can rest.
