A Time to Dance plot

Bernadette, 18, is an intelligent girl from a dysfunctional Irish working-class family. Andrew, 55, an aspiring writer and soon-to-be retired bank manager, likes to introduce her to the intricacies of life and finds her an attentive student. But soon he begins an affair with her, much to the disdain of the village community, as he becomes more and more emotionally involved. This relationship develops while he nurses his disabled wife.
