Night on Earth plot
Night on Earth is about nature during the night. What do animals do during our sleeping hours? That issue presented a lot of challenges for the makers. It is difficult to film animals in sunlight, let alone when it is completely dark. For this they use very expensive video technology, including ultramodern infrared cameras and special techniques that can also be used to film underwater in the dark. Each episode explores a different habitat, showing how animals deal with the challenges of the night in their own unique way.

Stunning shots in this six-part Netflix documentary series, about what goes on in nature at night. New camera techniques ensure that it becomes light in the dark, whereby the behavior of a large number of animals can be observed for the first time during the nighttime hours. A bit on the boring side here and there, partly due to the rather monotonous voice-over by Samara Wiley, but for the most part quite impressive, especially because of the masterly camera work.
