McClain's Law plot

Jim McClain, a former cop who was forced to retire after being injured, has spent the past 15 years working on a fishing boat. One day he and his partner sell their boat, but when his partner has cashed the check, he is robbed and killed. McClain thinks the police aren't doing enough and he makes sure he can return to service. After apprehending his partner's killer, he remains employed, much to the dismay of his boss, who does not particularly appreciate McClain's approach.
