Baghdad Central plot
October 2003. Baghdad has been occupied by US troops for six months; but the dissolution of the Iraqi military, police and civilian leadership in the wake of the invasion means that there is no one in charge and there is no effective rule of law. Amid this chaos, crime and paranoia, ex-Iraqi police officer Muhsin al-Khafaji has lost everything and fights daily to protect himself and his ailing daughter, Mrouj. But when he discovers that his estranged eldest daughter Sawsan is missing, Khafaji is forced into a desperate search to find her.

In Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein, former police inspector Muhsin al-Khafaji (Waleed Zuaiter) tries to get a grip on his life. With a sick and a missing daughter, Mushin faces a difficult task. What we are presented with is a drama series that resembles Tehran, with a touch of Homeland, Fauda and The Spy. Unfortunately, Baghdad Central is the least of the titles mentioned.
Baghdad Central is very predictable, so it never gets really exciting. The series meanders between family drama and espionage, terror and murder mystery, but falls short on several fronts. The uninteresting and caricatured character of Frank Temple (Bertie Carvel - Doctor Foster), is a showy miss. At the same time, Baghdad Central is made with great care and the locations are fine. Too bad Baghdad Central falls dramatically short.
