Loren Payton, Billy Shoemaker and Andy Fairbell are three troubled teachers. More inept than the children they teach, they are out to defeat the system as they struggle every day to survive in their own way. Abbey is the school librarian with an irrepressible passion for life. As the school year progresses, they face more dilemmas and are forced to expand their plans to keep their jobs, their friends, and their "dignity."
