Kees Flodder (2026)

Despite all the negative reviews, I started watching the series anyway, without expecting much from it. To be honest, I didn't think the first three episodes were bad at all. Of course, the structure is different, but not *that* different. You have to get to know the characters first and get used to the fact that it involves a different family.

I actually saw many recognizable elements and similarities that were incorporated very well. I think you shouldn't compare this series one-to-one with the old one, but rather keep that one more in the back of your mind. Additionally, a series needs to be given the chance to develop; actors need to grow into their roles.

After all the criticism, I honestly expected it to be much worse, but it turned out much better than I expected and I enjoy watching the new episodes. Yes, it is different from the movie, but ultimately, so was the original series. Certain characters are clearly recognizable and the atmosphere still feels like it's in the same style.

In my opinion, this series has absolutely nothing to do with Flodder or Kees Flodder.
It comes across to me as RTL/Videoland holding the IP and the rights to the original footage and sound.

And turned it into a rushed, unrealistic mess in a fresh coat. But a fresh coat made of a very stinking rotten fish, that is. The subtle, authentic Flodder humor is gone. The good family chemistry and the role-playing among them (at the time) were not seen here.

That famous, fun cat-and-mouse game between the Flodders and the snobs is now unknown, and what is on screen now is superfluous and forced. The Flodders picking fights everywhere but still getting away with it sneakily and with humor? That is now overacting to the bone with terrible art effects. For example, that klutz in the golf cart. Who came up with that!?

I don't know what happened during the production process? I saw some old footage and old, recognizable 'bits' of re-enacted scenes that were very poorly edited together with rushed new nonsense.

I don't even think it's worth the effort to start this series in the app. I can only advise against it. In my opinion, this entire production makes absolutely no sense.
