I'm not familiar with the American original, but the biggest problem here was indeed the lack of laughter. You can tell when something is supposed to be funny, but it's a little uncomfortable that you're looking at it with a neutral facial expression. I didn't get much further than the occasional faint smile. Normally I think Jeroen is a sympathetic guest, but I couldn't do much with this.
