De Luizenmoeder plot

Due to the decreasing number of students, De Akker primary school has had a difficult year, as a result of which some teachers and the caretaker have been fired. It is now up to the school management to make a fresh start in the new school year. Hannah is the mother of seven-year-old Fleur. As the mother of a new student, she tries to survive in a world full of mother mafia, playground rules, singing teachers, parental participation and other suffering. The often ill-considered initiatives of the headmaster to let a new wind blow through the school, do not make things any easier.

Ik verwachtte er weinig van, maar toch wel een erg leuke serie. De originele Nederlandse serie niet gezien, en toen het destijds werd uitgezonden op VTM ook volledig gemist. Maar de humor is toch wel scherp en er zitten een paar erg goede acteerprestaties tussen. Tom Audenaert zijn rol doet soms wat denken aan David Brent, maar dan de meer aaibare versie. En ook de grofgebekte juffen vertolkt door Els Dottermans en Katelijne Damen zorgen voor de nodige lachsalvo's. Net als enkele ouders, waarbij vooral Ikram Aoulad als Mel en (de kleine rol van de ondertussen erg populaire) Isabelle Van Hecke opvallen. Vergelijken met de Nederlandse versie kan ik niet, dus de remake-kwaliteiten kan ik moeilijk inschatten. Maar als losstaande serie in ieder geval van genoten.

I didn't expect much from it, but it's still a really enjoyable series. I hadn't seen the original Dutch series, and when it aired on VTM, I completely missed it. But the humor is sharp, and there are some very good performances.

Tom Audenaert's role is sometimes reminiscent of David Brent, but the more lovable version. The foul-mouthed teachers, played by Els Dottermans and Katelijne Damen, also provide plenty of laughs. As do a few of the parents, with Ikram Aoulad as Mel and (in the small role of the now very popular) Isabelle Van Hecke standing out.

I can't compare it to the Dutch version, so it's hard to judge the remake's quality. But I certainly enjoyed it as a standalone series.
