A bomb blast kills several Polish Border Guard agents in the beautiful but inhospitable Bieszczady Mountains, a national park in the far southeastern corner of the country, on the border with Slovakia and Ukraine. The only survivor is Captain Rebrow who loses not only his friends and colleagues, but also his beloved Ewa in the attack. Completely confused, he tries to figure out the motives for the attack and to discover who might be the mastermind behind the attack. His superiors are also eager to bring the truth to light.
