Resident Evil plot

Resident Evil tells a story across two timelines: in the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A fabricated, corporate city, forced upon them as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they realize that the city is more than it seems and that their father is hiding dark secrets. Secrets that can destroy the world. Back to the second timeline, more than ten years in the future: there are less than fifteen million people on Earth. And over six billion samples. People and animals infected with the T virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets of her past continue to haunt her.

Not long after "Welcome to Raccoon city" we get a Resident Evil series. Would they finally get it right? After seeing the trailer you could already see that it was going to be nothing.

But after first two episodes, which were awful. High school, teen, drama, with stupid characters who irritate you immensely with dialogues that made my toes curl, it became watchable from episode three. For me at least as a fan of the games, it was watchable enough with nice references, monsters and a puzzle episode. With piano (moonlight sonata)

Why make Wesker black? I'm not a racist, but why do they have to go that way so often. Black lives matter, they really should put it on the back burner. Just like the rest, woke happen...

That scene where Lance Reddick, who plays Wesker, comes down the stairs, wearing a leather jacket and black sunglasses was laughable, but as a Resi fan I also had goosebumps, because it was a surprise to see the original Wesker and not the Clones, which in episodes before that would not have been seen.

Missed opportunity to ask an actor like Scott Eastwood to name just one example. But Lance Reddick did a decent job unlike the rest of the actors.

.

Nice monster cameos. Crocodile, from part 2, chainsaw man from part 4, screaming zombie from part six, worm from original part three.

The flasforwards were really, really bad. Nowhere interesting, terrible scenario, stupid choices that characters make, wooden acting. It gets a little more interesting but in the end the whole sister to sister thing is just a soap opera and not resident evil/

Ultimately, the series is not very bad, partly due to the many monsters of the games, acting by Lance Reddick and several references to the games, including the puzzle episode.

but still they have failed miserably again. When are they going to get it right? Probably never again...

I don't know the games so look with fresh eyes. Still a very bad series.

The (few) horror parts are very weak and unbelievably executed. It is mainly about the drama within one family. I think that's a weak basis for a worldwide virus zombie outbreak.

I'm really annoyed by the lead role. Zero sympathetic. Being mean to everything and everyone, shitting about everything and always being right (even if that doesn't make sense at all). That doesn't give a strong character. It just makes that character unbearable. And the very 'evil' CEO who should be mean is almost laughable, very handsome. The supporting characters that became interesting are immediately killed (a GoT trick).

All in all: weak story, weak horror and weak characters but an over-the-top lead make a dramatically bad mix.

I'm a RE fan, that makes it difficult, because they miss a lot. But all the bad comments really don't mean anything. No, it's definitely not the best series ever, but a lot of people go into this series with a bias (I did too). Then you pay attention to things that you normally never pay attention to. The series is a missed opportunity for RE fans, but it's not bad.
