Flashpoint plot

Flashpoint is about the Strategic Response Unit, a special unit of the Toronto police force. This unit has the task of solving extreme situations that the police themselves can no longer handle. Examples include hostage-taking, bomb threats and heavily armed criminals. These crimes are not about "ordinary" criminals, but about normal people who get their act together through extreme events.

Inmiddels twee seizoenen gezien en ik vind het op zich een redelijke serie, tenminste wat het kernverhaal per aflevering betreft. Verwacht je namelijk een keiharde interventiegroep met realistische actie dan zit je er behoorlijk naast. Probleem is dat ze in de verhalen per aflevering, maar ook in de leden van het team, een bepaalde emotie proberen te leggen. Helaas wordt het daardoor te vaak een zielige vertoning en komen bepaalde leden van de groep zelfs over als een stelletje watjes. Daarbij, vijf seizoen is veel te veel van hetzelfde. Qua entertainment, met het verstand op nul, kijkt het echter redelijk weg voor een Canadese productie.

I've seen two seasons now and I think it's a reasonable series, at least as far as the core story per episode is concerned. If you expect a tough intervention group with realistic action, you're way off. The problem is that they try to put a certain emotion in the stories per episode, but also in the members of the team. Unfortunately, it often becomes a pathetic show and certain members of the group even come across as a bunch of wimps. In addition, five seasons is way too much of the same. In terms of entertainment, with your brain switched off, it's pretty watchable for a Canadian production.
