The first trailer for Loki season two has been released, as the God of Mischief gets up to more, well, mischief.
British actor Tom Hiddleston has played Loki for well over a decade now, starting with Thor in 2011. Thereafter, he made numerous appearances within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was a key figure in the Infinity War saga.
At the conclusion of the first season of Loki, he is sent back to the Time Variance Authority after He Who Remains is killed by Sylvie, which subsequently unleashes a new multiverse and the emergence of Kang the Conqueror, who is set to be the next 'Big Bad' of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Jonathan Majors will feature as a version of Kang, Victor Timely, who was introduced in a post-credits scene after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Hiddleston and Majors star alongside Sophia Di Martino (Sylvie), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Renslayer), Wunmi Mosaku (Hunter B-15), Eugene Cordero, Tara Strong (Miss Minutes), Neil Ellice, and Owen Wilson (Mobius) reprising their roles from the first season, alongside Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, and Ke Huy Quan.
Ke Huy Quan joins the cast as Ouroboros, an archivist for the TVA.
Within the new trailer, we see that Loki is constantly being thrown into separate sections of the new timeline, forcing Mobius to try and determine the problem. The pair travel back in time to the 1900s where they encounter Timely, a professor with futuristic inventions.
Will Jonathan Majors be recast as Kang?
There were previously doubts over the future of Majors in the MCU due to his current legal issues.
In March of this year, Majors was arrested on assault, strangulation and harassment charges following a domestic dispute with a thirty-year-old woman, who "sustained minor injuries to her head and neck and was removed to an area hospital in stable condition."
Though subsequent released text messages suggested the woman did not want to press charges, several other alleged victims came forward in the aftermath accusing Majors of similar assaults.
The actor was then dropped by his agent and PR firm.
Even though filming for Loki likely took place before these allegations, it is becoming more clear that Marvel does not have any intention of recasting Kang for the upcoming Avengers movies.
