The finale of Secret Invasion is officially the worst-reviewed project in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Disney+ series saw Samuel L. Jackson reprise his role as Nick Fury for another appearance in the MCU. The storyline for the series surrounded Fury's attempts to protect Earth from an invasion of hostile Skrulls while collaborating with friend, former Skrull commander Talos.
Overall, the series has a rating of 66% on Rotten Tomatoes, but the finale tanked to a rating of just 13%.
Here are a few of the reviews for the final episode...
"I think, as a whole, the series was a waste of time, a waste of Nick Fury, and a waste of good performances from Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Emilia Clarke, Cobie Smulders, and Olivia Colman." - Sam Barsanti of AV Club.
"Secret Invasion signs off in disappointing style. A seed of a compelling story has been sown, but it can’t mask what has been, by and large, one of the weakest MCU series in quite some time." - Bradley Russell of Total Film.
"Although the Nick Fury-focused drama seems to think it went out with a bang, the series finale opts for a whimpering, wheezing final fight and boring repetition." - Fletcher Peters of The Daily Beast.
"So, Marvel has set up its next film but hasn’t really justified wasting a story like Secret Invasion. I had such high hopes for this series, and I’m walking away so disappointed. This could have been something great. Instead, it flamed out." - Jean Henegan of Pop Culture Maniacs.
"Secret Invasion Episode 6 is just as dour and dim as the rest of the series. Samuel L. Jackson deserved a project befitting his talent and Secret Invasion squandered that potential." - Allyson Johnson of But Why Tho? A Geek Community.
The finale of Secret Invasion has a storyline that will continue into Armor Wars as well as the next Avengers Movie, Secret Wars.
The lowest-rated movie from within the MCU is Eternals, which has a ranking of 47% on Rotten Tomatoes.
