Fantastische serie van Xavier Dolan die al verschillende mooie dingen heeft gemaakt zoals o.a Mommy, I killed my mother, Tom at the farm en nog vele andere en dit op een toch nog jonge leeftijd, het is absoluut een talent. De serie is ook zo goed en fantastisch omdat het acteren echt geweldig is. Misschien soms een beetje moeilijker om te volgen, maar je blijft gissen over wat er nu vroeger met deze familie is gebeurt en welk drama de kinderen hebben meegemaakt in hun jeugd. Ondanks het thema heb ik soms toch moeten glimlachen, echt een heerlijk pareltje wat mij betreft...

Fantastic series by Xavier Dolan who has already made several beautiful things such as Mommy, I killed my mother, Tom at the farm and many others and this at a still young age, it is definitely a talent. The series is also so good and fantastic because the acting is really great. Maybe a little harder to follow at times, but you keep guessing about what happened to this family in the past and what drama the children experienced in their youth. Despite the theme, I still had to smile at times, a truly wonderful gem as far as I'm concerned...

The Night Logan Woke Up is een vijfdelig Canadees familiedrama over pijn, schuld, verlies en eenzaamheid. Regisseur Xavier Dolan (die hier tevens acteert in de rol van Elliot), heeft er een sfeervol en tegelijk claustrofobisch mysteriedrama van gemaakt. De serie laveert tussen 1991 en het heden. Terwijl de tijdlijnen in elkaar grijpen, komen de geheimen van de familie Larouche stukje bij beetje bovendrijven. Dolan weet daar een sfeervol, bijna verstikkend geheel van te maken: donker en geladen. Je voelt dat er onder alles iets broeit. Het resultaat is een veelkleurig maar ook onrustig portret van een disfunctionele familie waarin niemand echt vrijuit gaat. The Night Logan Woke Up is geen lichte kost; het is intens, soms zelfs overweldigend. In die zin doet het denken aan I Know This Much Is True met Mark Ruffalo: zwaar, emotioneel rauw en zonder veel ruimte om op adem te komen. The Night Logan Woke Up is een melodrama dat je ondanks alle emoties nauwelijks weet te raken.

The Night Logan Woke Up is a five-part Canadian family drama about pain, guilt, loss, and loneliness. Director Xavier Dolan (who also stars as Elliot) has created an atmospheric yet claustrophobic mystery drama. The series moves between 1991 and the present. As the timelines intertwine, the Larouche family's secrets gradually emerge. Dolan creates an atmospheric, almost suffocating whole: dark and charged. You sense that something is brewing beneath it all.

The result is a vibrant yet unsettling portrait of a dysfunctional family where no one is truly blameless. The Night Logan Woke Up is no light read; it's intense, at times even overwhelming. In that sense, it's reminiscent of I Know This Much Is True with Mark Ruffalo: weighty, emotionally raw, and without much room to breathe. The Night Logan Woke Up is a melodrama that, despite all the emotion, barely manages to move you.
