Ridley plot
Charismatic detective Alex Ridley retires from the police force after years of loyal service. Ridley's replacement is acting DI Carol Farman, his former protégée who was mentored by Ridley for many years. Carol works on a complex and compelling murder case that suddenly takes a dark and unexpected turn. She turns to her old mentor for support, eager to access Ridley's unique insight into crime solving, which has served them so well in the past.

Nice series. Not really a high flyer, but more of the category "easy watching". The short stories per 1 (in season 1) or 2 (in season 2) episodes are well put together with sometimes even a surprising twist towards the denouement. It never gets spectacular but the atmosphere is fine, just like the cast. Adrian Dunbar is just a sympathetic actor and perfect for the role of Alex Ridley. The common thread through the first two seasons, the loss of his wife and daughter, starts to irritate at some point. If there is a season 3, they better leave that out.

With a singing detective on a volunteer basis in the lead role we have something special in this series that I recognize as average in the genre.
There is nothing wrong with it, everything runs smoothly and clearly, but there is no exception in anything.
