Silence plot
Crime drama, based on a true story set between Croatia and Ukraine. A journalist, a detective and a politician's wife cross paths after bodies of young girls are found: the first washes ashore, of a girl who drowned, and a second body shows that the girl died of an overdose. These people are involved together in the case investigating the tragic consequences of trafficking of minors and sexual abuse across Eastern Europe.

The six-part The Silence is best described as a Croatian Noir. In the tradition of Scandinavian crime dramas, this Ukrainian-Croatian production is dark, intense, gritty, and imbued with remarkably powerful cinematography. The series delves deeply into themes of human trafficking and corruption, evoking memories of the Swedish Missing People. The Silence tells a true story based on the book by investigative journalist Drago Hedl.
The build-up demands patience. The Silence has a slow start that tests the viewer, but those who persevere will gradually see a layered story emerge. Only in the final episodes does the plot truly grab you, and the pieces of the puzzle fall into place convincingly—without too many surprises. The acting is excellent across the board and elevates the series to an above-average level. The price of speaking is high, the price of silence even higher.
