Barend Is Weer Bezig! plot

Show about the character Barend Servet, a clumsy journalist, who previously appeared in the Fred Haché Show in 1971. Other characters from this show also reappear, such as Sjef van Oekel and Fred Haché himself. Many of the comedic elements center around slapstick humor, crazy costumes, nudity and chaos. Combining the trivial and banal with controversial elements, this avant-garde show is sometimes referred to as satire on the usually more conformist TV shows, or even 'anti-television'. Much of the controversy is in the episode where Queen Juliana is mocked: she drinks sherry and cleans sprouts, to feel closer to the people, then throws the sprouts in the trash or donates them to an orphanage.
