In June 1940, Villeneuve, a small fictitious arrondissement in the Jura, is startled by the arrival of the German army. The occupation of France has just begun. It will take four years: four years in which Daniel, Marcel, Marie, Raymond, Jeannine, Lucienne and many others live in a world where fear, hunger and danger are everyday life. Four years revealing their flaws, their secrets, and their ability to live in murky waters...
