12 o'Clock High plot

We follow the adventures, in the air and on the ground, of the men of the 918th Bombardment Group of the US Eighth Air Force. Initially commanded by the irascible General Frank Savage, he is later succeeded by Colonel Joe Gallagher, the son of a Pentagon General. The group is based in England and flies long-haul flights to carry out bombing raids in the German-oppressed part of Europe.
