Suisei no Gargantia plot

In the distant future, humanity has sought it out in space and formed the Galactic Alliance of Humanity. The Alliance is engaged in an ongoing war with a tentacled alien race known as the Hideauze. Sixteen-year-old Ensign Ledo is a soldier of the Galactic Alliance and controls a Machine Caliber - an automated, human-shaped battle suit with an artificial intelligence, which he refers to as ''Chamber''. After a failed attempt by Alliance units to destroy an enemy superweapon, Ledo ends up in a wormhole and loses consciousness. When he wakes up, he learns from Chamber that he had been in stasis for the past few months as his wounds healed. Ledo learns that he and Chamber have been found by a group of "primitive" humans. Ledo soon discovers that he is aboard a ship on an ocean-covered planet. Chamber tells him that, according to the local star charts, this is planet Earth, the birthplace of humanity, a place Alliance members only know from stories.
