The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes plot

The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes is the third Sherlock Holmes series starring Jeremy Brett and is the sequel to The Return of Sherlock Homes. It is set during the turn of the century that heralds the end of the Victorian era. Changes follow each other at lightning speed, but little changes in the world of crime. Once again, the famous detective and his friend and colleague Dr. Watson are confronted with some unusual cases that require an aggressive and out-of-the-ordinary approach.

The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes season 1

Jeremy Brett is still the best Sherlock Holmes to me, and Edward Hardwicke is a good Dr. Watson, but I really miss David Burke as Watson in this latest series.
He was less stiff, and had more sense of humor.

It's still an excellent series.

The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes season 1

What a great series these are. I really like the 'new' Sherlock series, but this traditional narration of the stories is also very nice. Where I occasionally found The Return less good than The Adventures, simply because I found the stories of certain episodes a bit less, these are just six strong and very fascinating episodes. Jeremy Brett is just Sherlock Holmes; I don't think there's any discussion about that. His outstanding performance really raises the level. Furthermore, the decoration of the series, to which a lot of time and attention has probably been spent, is also striking in a positive sense. The mysteries are also portrayed in an intriguing and often exciting way. The series still radiate quality in 2017 and I can recommend anyone who is a fan of the BBC series to give these classics a chance.

4*
