Olowiane Dzieci (Lead Children) is a powerful six-part Polish drama. Its themes are similar to those of Toxic Town and the feature films Erin Brockovich and Dark Waters, and it tells the story of young children who inexplicably become seriously ill. Against the backdrop of Poland in the 1970s and 1980s, state control, bureaucracy, political pressure, and the close friendship with Leonid Brezhnev's communist Soviet Union play a significant role.
The atmosphere and the atmosphere of the industrial province of Silesia are perfectly captured. With high production values, Olowiane Dzieci looks fantastic. With a true-life dramatization that's easy to watch and convincing actors, the series stands out positively among the endless Netflix offerings.
