Meisjes van de Goede Herder plot
Between 1860 and 1996, hundreds of thousands of girls worldwide were cared for by the Catholic Sisters of the Good Shepherd. The monastic order offered shelter to girls who fell outside society. In the Netherlands there were five convents and probably about twenty thousand girls. They had to work in sewing shops and laundries and live according to the strict rules of the sisters. The forced labor and treatment of the sisters has left deep scars on many girls. In this series, Britta Hosman talks to the last witnesses: the girls from then, the few surviving sisters and the current leadership of the still existing Sisters of the Good Shepherd congregation.
