Wonderful first season about the dreaded Pablo Escobar. Visually it all looks fine (the time image could have been a bit more present), and the series is rock hard at times. Cast is excellent with Wagner Moura (Brazilian actor who had to learn Spanish for this role) and Pedro Pascal, but I also really enjoyed Maurice Compte (Carillo) and Juan Pablo Raba (Gustavo).
Narcos seems to stick to the actual events quite well without adding too much drama (there was enough drama anyway). This storyline is enhanced by the addition of (impressive) archive footage and photos. Escobar's emergence as a modern-day Robin Hood, and his development into a simple gore terrorist is very interesting. It is also bizarre that such a person can have an entire army behind him and, as it were, can terrorize and control a country for years. I personally thought that was hardly possible in this day and age, but the sons of El Chapo in Mexico are still proving that the cartel is stronger than the police and the army. It remains bizarre.

You know that a series has got you if you start looking up additional info on YouTube and Google after (and sometimes even during) watching. So "Narcos season I & II" really got me. Fascinating series about the rise and fall of the Colombian drug empire in the 80s & 90s, in which the Capo di Tutti Capi Pablo Escobar played a leading role. Wagner Moura convincingly plays Escobar (although it was clear to me that he is not actually Spanish-speaking by origin; speak South American Spanish myself). The other characters are also well played; especially Pedro Pascal - who plays DEA agent Javier Pena - I really liked.

Excellent Netflix series, at times quite gory and violent, about drug lord Pablo Escobar and the DEA agents who hunt him. Intelligently and excitingly put together, as well as excellently filmed and played.
