Celblok H plot

In Cell Block H we follow Suus. Suus is suspected of attempted murder of her husband. In Cell Block H by PI de Banckert, she is followed from the day she moves into prison. The emotional farewell to her daughter and the first emotionally charged encounters with the other women of prison de Banckert, every emotion passes by. Soon Suus unwittingly becomes involved in a power struggle between fellow inmates Lex and Freddy. She is forced to choose a side in the conflict, which has dire consequences. The director of the prison pursues a strict and uncompromising regime. The young and ambitious lawyer Erika wants to get to the top as quickly as possible and sometimes chooses a shorter route than the accepted 'right' way.

Deze gevangenissoap heeft haar beste tijd gehad. De laatste reeks stuitert alle kanten op met Brinkhorst als een soort megalomane, psychopathische superschurk uit James Bond, maar die onverminderd invloed uitoefent op het reilen en zeilen in de gevangenis. Op zich is het leuk dat ze geprobeerd hebben om er een onvoorspelbaar seizoen van te maken, waarin het soms alle kanten op kan gaan omdat er verbondjes worden gesloten tussen de meest onwaarschijnlijke bondgenoten. Tot aan aflevering zeven (Paniek Knop) zijn ze op de goede weg, maar dan blijkt Brinkhorst een slap excuus om het echt alle kanten op te laten gaan. Ook de dramatische zijlijnen als de kanker van Maxime en de babywens van Boomer blijken vooral sentimentele opvulling. Ik weet niet of ik een vijfde seizoen nog een kans geef (en het lijkt waarschijnlijk dat die eraan zit te komen, met alle open eindjes.)

This prison soap has had its day. The last series bounces in all directions with Brinkhorst as a kind of megalomaniac, psychopathic supervillain from James Bond, but who still has an unabated influence on the ins and outs of the prison. It's nice in itself that they tried to make it an unpredictable season, where things can sometimes go either way as alliances are forged between the most unlikely of allies. Until episode seven (Panic Button) they are on the right track, but then Brinkhorst turns out to be a lame excuse to really let things go in all directions. The dramatic sidelines such as Maxime's cancer and Boomer's baby wish also appear to be mostly sentimental filler. I don't know if I'll give a fifth season another chance (and it seems likely that one is coming, with all the open ends.)
