This is even much better than the first season. I would rank this among the true top Scandinavian series. Mikkel Boe Folsgaard and Curcic shine again, but that shouldn't come as a surprise. Folsgaard really is one of those top Danish actors whom I adored in The Legacy, among others.

It had been a while since I looked forward to the next episode of a series so much, and really regretted that it was over. Truly exciting every second and a joy to watch.

I don't say it often, but bring on the third season.

And it's worth saying, I've finally seen some good things on Netflix again lately....

I found this second season slightly less good than the first, but my score remains the same. As for the plot, there are a few intense moments. Predictability has increased compared to the first season. The distraction they tried to introduce somewhere halfway through failed to reduce this; so as far as I'm concerned, it was a failure. The cast, however, is fine. It remains a very good series from Denmark, with a distinctive atmosphere.

Twenty years ago, writer and screenwriter Søren Sveistrup laid the foundation for the then-unknown Nordic Noir with *The Killing*. The Danish thriller (season 1 consisted of 20 episodes!) is an iconic series that, with Sarah Lund (Sofie Gråbøl), served as a model for a new generation of detectives, including Saga Norén from *The Bridge*. The second season of *The Chestnut Man* is based on Sveistrup's thriller *Hide and Seek* and can safely be called a surprise. The conventional yet suspenseful storylines—the twist halfway through is bold and striking—and excellent actors make this second season much better than the opening season. *The Chestnut Man* is old-school good.
