Love Is Blind: Germany plot

Christian Wackert and Steffi Brungs present this social experiment, in which single men and women looking for love get engaged, but only then actually meet. Free from the distractions of the outside world, the singles talk to a series of potential partners, and when a meaningful connection is made, they get engaged and see each other for the first time. Engaged and back in the real world, planning their wedding day, they'll soon discover if they can transform their emotional connection into a physical one before the fast-approaching ceremony.

Ik vind dit soort programma's wel interessant om de menselijke interacties gade te slaan. Hoewel je er van kunt uitgaan dat veel ook fake is, de deelnemers soms een show opvoeren en de programmamakers veel informatie weglaten of situaties verkeerd voorstellen door bijvoorbeeld beelden met reacties van de koppels op elkaar te knippen en plakken. Hoe meer je er gaat op letten, hoe meer het opvalt. Sommige deelnemers zoeken met hun deelname de 'fame' op (Hanni), sommigen zijn players (Ilias), anderen zijn narcisten (Tolga). Die Alina vond ik het hele programma door heel begrijpend en lief, maar in de reünie komt ze ineens nogal bitchy over, in de richting van Hanni. Marcel komt met zijn gesloten karakter, zijn onbegrip voor wat Jen van hem verlangt, en zijn starende blik nogal vreemd over, mogelijks zit hij ergens op het spectrum.

I find these kinds of programs interesting for observing human interactions. Although you can assume that much of it is fake, the participants sometimes put on a show, and the producers omit a lot of information or distort situations by, for example, cutting and pasting footage of the couples' reactions to each other. The more you pay attention, the more it becomes apparent.

Some contestants are seeking fame by participating (Hanni), some are players (Ilias), others are narcissists (Tolga). I found Alina very understanding and sweet throughout the program, but in the reunion she suddenly comes across as rather bitchy, towards Hanni.

Marcel comes across as rather strange with his closed nature, his lack of understanding of what Jen wants from him, and his fixed gaze; he might be somewhere on the spectrum.
