An excellent third season of this highly entertaining Netflix documentary series, which, in my opinion, rivals its flagship Formula 1: Drive To Survive. Here too, there's plenty of visual spectacle, thrills and spills during the races, and behind-the-scenes drama. This season, the focus is on the ubiquitous yet unseen sponsors who are slowly but surely killing the sport.

A tried-and-true formula with convincing drone footage and quick shots from the peloton. The short portraits in each episode have a bit more substance this season, such as the story about Anthony Turgis. At the same time, you sense that this Netflix production could have had much more depth and critical perspective. About the water carriers, the small successes, the failures, the friendships, the exploitation of the riders... The tension is sometimes ramped up unchecked with empty words and ditto music. For example, in episode 7, a battle is suggested between stage winner Carapaz and pursuer Pogacar. In reality, Pogacar didn't cross the finish line until over seven minutes later. In the commercial circus that is the Tour de France, the riders are the clowns. And we are the demanding audience.
