As a world first, balloon artists show their skills in a special purpose entertainment program. Dutch balloon artists compete with each other for the coveted title. The designs of the participants go far: they create whole worlds, make studio-high animals, blow entire seas of flowers, and even conjure 'high fashion' creations out of balloons. Under the leadership of Chantal Janzen and Martijn Krabbé, the candidates in this elimination race do everything they can in every episode to realize the most original work of art. In each episode they are given special assignments, which they have to complete under great time pressure. No assignment is too crazy, and demands a lot from the participants' creative thinking and stress resistance. The candidates build the most original balloon artworks in a short period of time: they design complete underwater worlds, giving full freedom to their imagination, and they create original sculptures of balloons that descend into the studio with a spectacular balloon shower. They also visualize a cartoon scene, transforming the studio into one large cinema. International balloon artist Guido Verhoef assesses the artworks and is assisted in certain assignments by a guest jury member who, based on his or her expertise, has a logical link with the theme of that week. For example, Jamai Loman assesses the cartoon scene based on his match with Disney films, ecologist Sterrin Smalbrugge assesses the large insects that candidates develop, and fashion designer Claes Iversen assesses the 'fashion' that the artists design and show to models.
