Mockumentary in which the fictional presenter Philomena Cunk tells the entire story of human civilization. From prehistory to the present: all important matters of history, science, culture and religion are covered. The most important inventions within human civilization are reviewed, such as the wheel, the Mona Lisa and nuclear energy. During interviews with experts, she asks pressing questions about human progress; during on-the-spot reports in museums and relics of the past, she confronts herself with difficult dilemmas.
