Numerous Hollywood productions have taught us in recent decades that American Marines and other special forces are responsible for the well-being of the Western world with their decisive actions. Special Ops: Lioness does away with that patriotic idea in a villainous way in the critical track of Homeland. Yet the execution is problematic: the added tragedy that often characterizes similar films and series still appears to be indispensable to telling the story.

Creator, director and jack-of-all-trades Taylor Sheridan now has an impressive series oeuvre to his name: 1923, 1883, Yellowstone, Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown. Sheridan is a master storyteller and does so with verve in his latest release Special Ops: Lioness. We follow CIA special agent Joe (Zoe Saldaña) who goes to war with undercover operations in the war on terror. Joe recruits and trains Cruz (Laysla De Oliveira), who has emerged from an abusive relationship and enlisted in the US Marines.

In a varied scenario, values such as faithfulness, justice and loyalty are presented at a rapid pace. With the credo shoot first, ask questions later, American patriotism is strictly implemented. Sheridan draws his story with thick markers, without too much nuance. The comparison with Homeland is obvious, but Homeland is better and more realistic. The fact that Special Ops: Lioness is pleasant to watch is mainly due to the powerful and brutal lionesses in the leading role. At the same time: what do we gain if women start behaving like men?

Great series that has everything in it. The only point is that this series is suitable for ages 12 and up. I disagree because of the shocking images of torture.
