Helsinki-Syndrooma plot

Family man Elias Karo lost his income, had to fire his staff and saw all grant applications rejected. For Elias, the corona crisis turned out to be the straw that finally overflowed his bucket full of financial difficulties. Elias was also a victim of the major economic recession in Finland in the 1990s. To cope with the recession, at the age of eighteen he guaranteed a loan of four million Finnish marks to his father's company. It was to no avail, because less than a year later the bank filed for bankruptcy, and within three days the family had lost everything. Elias carried the debt around for thirty years, and saw all his hopes for financial recovery lost due to the corona crisis. That vicious circle of financial misery makes something snap in him.

Een interessant plot maar een zeer trage en behoorlijk saaie uitvoering. Deze serie van bijna 7 uur hadden ze beter in een speelfilm uit kunnen brengen. Misschien dat het geheel dan een stuk boeiender was geweest. Het acteerwerk was best in orde en de mooie plaatjes van de omgeving zorgden daarbij ook voor een iets hogere score. Het is gewoon jammer dat het dramadeel overheerste want de meeste Scandinavische misdaadseries zijn toch van een hoger niveau dan deze serie.

An interesting plot but a very slow and quite boring execution. They could have released this series of almost 7 hours in a feature film. Maybe it would have been a lot more interesting then. The acting was quite okay and the beautiful pictures of the surroundings also resulted in a slightly higher score. It's just a shame that the drama part predominated because most Scandinavian crime series are of a higher level than this series.

Nu dan afgekeken. Wat een vreemd verhaal, dus even Imdb gecheckt: nog niet 1 review. Via Google vind ik ook niet veel - maar toch wel wat - en al helemaal niets over de gijzeling en die 2,2 miljard euro... wie het weet mag het zeggen wat dat dat laatste betreft. Ik vond de tweede helft (afl. 5 t/m 8 dus) wel beter uit te kijken, maar het alsnog een stuk compacter gekund. Prima geacteerd verder, het zag er allemaal okay uit, dus een heel kleine voldoende wil ik het wel geven. Hoofdrolspeler Johan Franzén bleek ook al eerder in Beck en (Johan) Falk te zien te zijn geweest, dus niet verwonderlijk dat hij me bekend voorkwam.

Now watched. What a strange story, so I checked Imdb: not 1 review yet. I don't find much via Google either - but I do find something - and certainly nothing at all about the hostage-taking and that 2.2 billion euros... who knows, who knows, it may say as far as the latter is concerned.

I thought the second half (eps. 5 to was better to watch, but it could still be a lot more compact. Well acted further, it all looked okay, so I'll give it a very small pass.

Protagonist Johan Franzén also appeared in Beck and (Johan) Falk before, so it is not surprising that he looked familiar to me.
