Louis Theroux: Miami Mega Jail plot

Theroux visits the most infamous and violent section of Miami County Jail: With 6,000 inmates and more than 100,000 throughputs a year, this mega-jail is a transit point for those not yet convicted and awaiting trial in the twilight zone between court and prison. There are twenty-five prisoners per cage, who stay in their cells all day and are only allowed to air for an hour twice a week. The prisoners fight with each other, for food and out of boredom. Someone regularly ends up in the infirmary. Survival in this prison is only possible if you are tough, have a dark skin and can act uncompromisingly. Louis meets the most diverse inmates. He talks to men on death row awaiting appeal, as well as men who see a courtroom for the first time. He meets guilty people, people who are slightly guilty and people whose guilt has yet to be proven.
