Morning love. Sergeant Catherine Cawood (a sublime Sarah Lancashire - Last Tango in Halifax) gives each colleague a friendly greeting. But the mood quickly changes and we quickly find ourselves in an exciting drama. Seven (!) years after season two, this third season is also the last. What a top television we get to see here. Happy Valley is right in everything; a raw, intense, dramatic script (Sally Wainwright - Scott & Bailey), excellent actors and six exciting episodes with a touch of humor. Happy Valley ranks 4 in my series top ten for these reasons.
Sarah Lancashire beautifully portrays the empathic agent who seems imploded by personal trauma, grief and anger. Besides being a thriller, Happy Valley is also a family drama, with a wonderful role from Siobhan Finneran (A Confession, Time) as Cawood's sister. James Norton (Grantchester) plays the creepy Tommy Lee Royce. Happy Valley is not perfect. For example, the role of the pharmacist does not come out well and credibly. A minor point. After three seasons that hardly differ in quality, it ends here. Goodbye love.

Strong third and final season of this British police series. Slightly less exciting and intense than the first two series, but also this time it is especially enjoyable to enjoy the beautifully developed characters. The unanimously strong acting and the slowly but surely building plot towards a satisfying finale complete this in style. Nice to see a series that knows when it has been good and can convincingly put an end to it.
