More than nice, this new season. I didn't follow it closely last year, but waited a few months, and it might pay off a bit.

Where the series in some of the most recent seasons played too close to topicality in my opinion, that has been scaled back in season 22. There's even a nostalgic feel to it, thanks to the return of characters like Mr. Hankey, Towelie and Satan. That reintroduction isn't always successful, but it still makes for some of the funniest scenes (Satan in the library with his reading glasses, Towelie's job as a representative of Tegridy and Grandpa Marsh with his rather plastic description of how his wife could bring him to the boil - feel free to check it out for yourself! ).

It is a pity that there are still regular references to current events and all kinds of cultural phenomena are recycled a bit too much. At the same time, that might not be a bad thing, because that makes it clear - to me, at least - what South Park's strong point is. Just kicking ass, sparing nothing or no one. Hopefully they will continue that trend in the future.
