Spider-Man 4 will allegedly start filming this year with Tom Holland and Zendaya returning

It seems like Spider-Man 4 is definitely happening, with Tom Holland and Zendaya set to return as Peter Parker and MJ.

Three movies have been produced in Holland's standalone trilogy so far - Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

For many fans, and for Holland himself, the conclusion of No Way Home represented a perfect end to his Peter Parker arc, but with immense box office figures involved, Sony and Marvel were always keen to make number four.

According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, the third season of Euphoria has been indefinitely delayed due to Zendaya's commitments to Spider-Man 4, which is set to start filming in September or October of this year.

Justin Lin is allegedly in talks to direct.

Holland previously confirmed that talks had taken place about a return as Spidey.

"All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character," he said at a press conference for the Critics Choice Association.

"Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing. I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character."

At the end of No Way Home, the entire world has forgotten about the existence of Peter Parker, including his girlfriend MJ, played by his real-life girlfriend, Zendaya.

Spider-Man meetings

Several figures at Sony and Marvel have confirmed Spider-Man 4 is happening, though Holland himself has reservations.

"It was myself, Amy (Pascal), Kevin Feige, Rachel (O'Connor), sometimes other executives from Marvel will sit in," he previously told The Hollywood Reporter with regards to meetings that have already taken place.

"It's a collaborative process. The first few meetings were about: 'Why would we do this again?' And I think we found the reason why. I'm really, really happy with where we're at in terms of the creative.

"But I'm also a little apprehensive about it. There's a bit of a stigma about the fourth one in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise and there's a part of me that wants to walk away with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid that gets to bring this character to life."
