A new favourite has emerged to play the next James Bond - Paul Mescal.
Since Daniel Craig's retirement as 007 following No Time to Die, Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have been working tirelessly to find the next man to don the famous tuxedo and lead the franchise into the next generation.
Several names have been mentioned over the last couple of years including Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Hardy, Damson Idris, Kit Harrington and Richard Madden.
According to The Sun, Mescal is being eyed to play a younger version of Bond in the new movie.
Crucially, the next Bond film will have TWO actors playing the role - one younger and one older.
Presumably, we'll see the younger version in flashbacks. This also opens up a whole new can of worms with regard to who will play the older version of 007.
Mescal has actually commented on being linked with the Bond role previously.
“I’m a huge Bond fan. I think it’s an incredible franchise," he said in 2020.
"But it feels very, very far away from current circumstances. Would I play Bond? Yeah? I don’t know. If it ever came my way, we’d have a discussion about it. I don’t know. I don’t want to say yes or no. I am a massive fan, and will continue to be, regardless.”
Who is the favourite to play James Bond?
According to OddChecker, the favourite to play Bond remains Taylor-Johnson at odds of 3/1.
Cavill is second at 4/1, while Idris and Norton are both at 5/1 respectively.
