This past weekend, Brad Pitt took to the track at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone as part of the filming for his upcoming Formula 1 movie.

The sports epic, directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick success focuses on a veteran driver who comes out of retirement to act as a mentor to a younger star, while also aiming to reclaim glory for himself.

It is being produced by F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton who is “advising on storyline and script to ensure it’s the most accurate racing film ever made.”

Pitt hung around with the drivers over the weekend, many of whom shared social media photos alongside the A-lister.

However, one driver who seemingly wasn't happy with the extra attention from Hollywood in his sport was Max Verstappen of Red Bull.

"I think they're going to use some shots of everybody, in terms of onboard cameras and stuff," the Dutchman told Motorsport.com.

"I completely can't be bothered with this. In the end, a film is always made to create a little bit of a show in it. Because yes, of course, it won't all be real. But I think it's all fine. I'm actually not that much into it."

Verstappen currently holds a very healthy lead in the 2023 Drivers' Championship, having won eight races so far and claimed 10 podium spots.

What is Brad Pitt's F1 movie about?

Pitt did plenty of press interviews over the weekend talking about his experience getting in the F1 car. He also provided some further details as to what his movie will be about.

“I would be a guy who raced in the ‘90s,” Pitt told Sky Sports.

"He has a horrible crash, kind of craps out and disappears, and then is racing in other disciplines. And then his friend, played by Javier Bardem, is a team owner. They’re a last-place team, they’re 21 or 22 on the grid, and they’ve never scored a point. And they have a young phenom played by Damson Idris, and he brings me in as kind of a Hail Mary. And hijinx ensue.”

Pitt is a long-time fan of motorsport and flew the start flag at the 2016 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Oscar winner was previously involved in the development of a biopic about Le Mans racer and engineer Caroll Shelby, though this later developed into Ford v Ferrari starring Matt Damon.
