One major, major change is reportedly coming to the James Bond franchise.
Twenty-five official James Bond movies have been produced so far since Dr. No in 1962, with six men playing the part of 007 - Sean Connery, George Lazenby. Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.
There is indeed another man who has played Bond, though, as David Niven featured as the character in 1967 spoof, Casino Royale.
Producers are looking to reboot the franchise again with someone taking over from Craig, who retired from the role after No Time to Die.
And, for the next movie, we could experience something never before seen in the franchise as TWO actors are reportedly being courted for the role - one younger and one older.
The Sun reports that we will see a young version and an older version of Bond in the same movie, which would suggest the former will feature in some kind of flashbacks. There have been rumours that the next Bond might take place in the 1960s, so that would make sense to have one actor play the character in the present day and one in the past.
Who is the favourite to play James Bond?
According to OddChecker, the favourite to play Bond remains Aaron Taylor-Johnson at odds of 3/1.
Henry Cavill is second at 4/1, while Damson Idris and James Norton are both at 5/1 respectively.
However, in the same report by The Sun, they claim that Paul Mescal is being eyed for the lead role.
Mescal has actually commented on being linked with the Bond role previously.
“I’m a huge Bond fan. I think it’s an incredible franchise," he said in 2020.
"But it feels very, very far away from current circumstances. Would I play Bond? Yeah? I don’t know. If it ever came my way, we’d have a discussion about it. I don’t know. I don’t want to say yes or no. I am a massive fan, and will continue to be, regardless.”
