There are some major cinema releases in the UK this week, and we have all the details for you.
We are over halfway through 2025 and there has been some enormously successful movies at the global box office. The highest-grossing film of the year so far is Chinese animated movie Ne Zha 2 which has grossed an astonishing $2.2 billion.
As for American releases, Lilo & Stitch, A Minecraft Movie, Jurassic World Rebirth and How to Train Your Dragon round out the top five.
None of the movies released in the United Kingdom this week will likely be box office behemoths, but there are a few already gaining major critical approval.

The Life of Chuck - 20 August, 2025
The Life of Chuck is a new fantasy drama written and directed by Mike Flanagan and based on the short story of the same name by Stephen King.
Official premise:
'From childhood to adulthood, Charles "Chuck" Krantz experiences the wonder of love, the heartbreak of loss, and the multitudes contained in all of us.'
The Life of Chuck cast: Tom Hiddleston, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mia Sara, Carl Lumbly, Benjamin Pajak, Jacob Tremblay, and Mark Hamill, with narration by Nick Offerman.
Eddington is the new drama by Ari Aster of Hereditary and Midsommar fame. It made its premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and has received mixed-to-positive reviews so far.

'During the COVID-19 pandemic, a standoff between a small-town sheriff and mayor sparks a powder keg as neighbour is pitted against neighbour in Eddington, N.M.'
Eddington cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O'Connell, Micheal Ward, Austin Butler and Emma Stone.
