Jamie Dornan has revealed that he once screen tested to play Nathan Drake in an adaptation of Uncharted.
The 2022 movie based on the video game series of the same name which is one of the most popular franchises in history in terms of sales and reception. It tells the story of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter who travels the globe searching for artefacts.
Tom Holland was eventually selected to play Drake, but in an earlier planned production, Dornan was up for the role.
"I remember I did a screen test for Uncharted years ago when they were going to make it with a different director," the Irishman said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
"It went well and there was a point where it looked like maybe I was doing it. Then it all went quiet and went away – the director fell off."
Ruben Fleischer directed Uncharted, but before that Shawn Levy, Dan Trachtenberg and Travis Knight were all linked to the director's chair.
"When I heard they were going to make it again I was like, ‘Oh, great’ but you’re too old now. Tom Holland, who is half your age, is doing it," he added.
Dornan auditioned for Superman
In the same interview, Dornan revealed that he auditioned for Superman before Henry Cavill was cast in Man of Steel - in his pyjamas!
"The only one I auditioned for is Superman," Dornan replied when asked whether he had been up for a superhero role.
"That was way back when, like, when Henry Cavill got cast. That’s probably 12 years ago or something. I wore my own suit there. Was that a mistake? They were Superman pyjamas, they weren’t an actual suit.
"I remember an early audition for that. I got nowhere near putting the suit on… I’ve had meetings with heads of studios that do those things and would talk about it, but I never got deep in any audition process for them."
