Jim Brandon returns to his ranch after wrongly serving a sentence for a robbery. During this bank robbery, his partner Tim Donovan committed suicide. Jim wants to prove his innocence and the first hopeful step in that direction is the discovery that the bullet that killed Donovan does not appear to have come from his weapon. Jim, who can count on the support of Betty Morgan, who is in love with him, suspects the Rankin brothers. Meanwhile, Bill Rankin tries to force Betty to marry his good-for-nothing brother Dunc.
