After her husband's death, Lucretia moves to Arizona. In the small town of Charleyville she hopes to build a new life with her children Sissy and Tobey. Upon her arrival, the young widow immediately quarrels with the sheriff. More setbacks follow, because the job she was promised suddenly no longer exists. In urgent need of money, she takes a job at a chicken farm. Lucretia is not used to the physically demanding work, but if she wants to survive in Arizona she will have to adapt...
