The money they had to guard is stolen from the railroad officer Rocky and his Mexican friend Chito Bustamonte Rafferty. Using anomalous hoof prints, Rocky Ash can identify Preston, one of the robbers. When Rocky is injured in a shooting, Ash helps him. Chito recovers the stolen money and Rocky releases Ash, who has left the gang of robbers. But Cinnaber, Ash's former partner, has planned a bank robbery and has everyone chased out of town. Cinnabar then shoots Ash, claiming Ash is a murderer.
